3: 1! MSV Duisburg puts a first exclamation point against Freiburg II

Duisburg. MSV Duisburg scored their second consecutive victory in the 3rd division. The Zebras won 3-1 (1-0) against SC Freiburg II on Monday night.

Which gives hope for a season without major football torments. Fans of third division club MSV Duisburg had plenty of reasons to celebrate their team on Monday. The zebras have defeated him SC Freiburg II with 3: 1 (1: 0). The fans sang a Wedau stadium shot almost forgotten about the old days: "Oh, how good it is." The outstanding man of the evening was the captain of the MSV Moritz Stoppelkampnot only did he play well, but he also scored a goal and two assists.

MSV Duisburg: XI holder changed only in one position

MSV manager Torsten Ziegner changed his starting lineup in just one position from a 1-0 win at FSV Zwickau. Caspar Jander replaced Marlon Frey in the defensive midfield. The coach had recently attested to Frey's lack of freshness. Additionally, the player complained of stomach problems before the match. Forward Julian Hettwer returned to the squad after a long illness and was on the bench at kick-off.

In front of 9731 spectators, including around 30 Breisgau fans, the MSV launched their first dangerous attack in the seventh minute. Marvin Ajani headed Freiburg's goal from a Moritz Stoppelkamp free-kick. Six minutes later, the Duisburg fans already had the scream of the goal on their lips. Marvin Bakalorz heads from Stoppelkamp's corner - we know this from the match in Essen - but this time he is dismissed by the keeper. SC goalkeeper Noah Atubolu was there with a strong reflex.

A minute later, tempers were heating up. Philipp Treu lands Alaa Bakir in the penalty area. Referee Konrad Oldhafer's whistle was silent. Guests shouldn't have complained about a zebra penalty.

The guests spoke for the first time in the 20th minute. Former MSV striker Vincent Vermeij, who led the Freiburg side as captain, was dismissed by goalkeeper Vincent Müller, who cleared up the situation with a foot defense.

At 28 'Torsten Ziegner was forced to make a substitution for the first time. Alaa Bakir injured his left knee in a duel. With a thick ice pack around his ankle, the attacking midfielder left the inside without being able to perform. He was replaced by Aziz Bouhaddouz, who took up position in the center of the attack. Chinedu Ekene retired to the attacking midfield line, but sometimes advanced as a second striker.

Alaa Bakir heard the Duisburg supporters' goal celebrations on the way to the locker room. Moritz Stoppelkamp takes a corner, Joshua Bitter was there in the head and made the 1-0 for the Zebras. This variant - watch the match against Essen - is currently a successful model for Meiderich.

The MSV continued to lobby. Aziz Bouhaddouz looked promising but was offside. Shortly before half-time, Moritz Stoppelkamp failed from a tight angle on the Freiburg goalkeeper.

MSV Duisburg: Senger saves against Vermeij

SC Freiburg made three changes during the break, but MSV took away the enthusiasm from the guests at the start. In the 49th minute, the zebras' corner kick concept worked again. Aziz Bouhaddouz dozed off after Stoppelkamp's 2-0 corner.

Vincent Vermeij missed the connection in the 52nd minute as central defender Marvin Senger rejected Duisburg's goal. In the 58th minute Moritz Stoppelkamp followed on the other side, this time without a corner and without a header. On a pass from Caspar Jander, the 35-year-old threw the ball into the net from the left half for the 3-0. Four minutes later Aziz Bouhaddouz could have closed the area but was dismissed by the keeper.

MSV Duisburg on Sunday at SV Meppen

But the hosts still couldn't sit back and relax. Substitute Philip Fahrner left MSV winger Niklas Kölle standing and in the 68th minute reduced the score to 1: 3 from Freiburg's perspective. Freiburg took the lead, the MSV Duisburg but it held up well. Substitute Phillip König missed 4: 1 from close range in the 82nd minute. However, nothing is burned for the Meidericher. Fans could keep singing.

The Zebras are now on Sunday 21 August, with the away match in SV Meppen over (14:00).
