Clermont overthrows Reims, Toulouse serious at Troyes, Auxerre stumbles on Angers

This Sunday afternoon, as part of the 2nd day of Ligue 1, Clermont completely reversed the course of the match in Reims in the second period and left Reims with its first doubts (4-2). Toulouse confirmed its good form at Troyes (3-0), too limited against the French Ligue 2 champion. Ajaccio and Lens could not score a single goal (0-0). Finally, Auxerre conceded a frustrating draw against Angers (2-2).

Ajaccio - Lens : 0-0

Lens tried everything but failed to find the fault in the defense of Ajaccio, the best in Ligue 2 last season (0-0). A week after the initial defeat in Lyon (2-1), the Corsicans showed solidarity to keep a point. Przemysaw Frankowski tried several times to deceive the vigilance of Benjamin Leroy (29th, 50th), impeccable this Sunday, without success. Florian Sotoca, author of a hat-trick during the first day against Brest (3-2), even tried a scissor, without more success (30th). Positive point for the Sang et Or, their series of trips without defeat now stands at five (three wins, two draws). On the Corsican side, the lack of strike force in attack could pose problems for the rest of the season.

Auxerre-Angers: 2-2

A week after their contrasting return to Ligue 1, AJA conceded a draw against the feverish Angevins (2-2). The main mission of the Auxerrois was simple: not to miss the start of the match as in Lille, during the first day, where they had conceded two goals in three minutes (4-1). They did better than that: Julian Jeanvier took advantage of the hesitation of Paul Bernardoni, whose performance did not put an end to the debate on the identity of the No. 1 in the Angevin cages, to open the scoring (4th) , then on a dangerous cross, Cédric Hountondji deflected the ball into his own goal (10th).

Launched at the limit of offside, Loïs Diony reduced the gap and gave hope to his teammates overwhelmed so far (22nd). Bad surprises followed for Jean-Marc Furlan's men during the second act: Lassine Sinayoko was guilty of a bad gesture (57th) and was excluded, the goal of Gauthier Hein (65th) was refused for a fault beforehand and Amine Salama (77th) signed the equalizer for the visitors.

Reims - Clermont : 2-4

What a change in situation ! The Rémois, reduced to ten in the second period following the red card of Emmanuel Agbadou (47th), cracked to record a second defeat in as many games against Clermont (2-4). Heavily defeated in Marseille last Sunday (4-1), the Champenois first made the difference during a one-sided first period. Folarin Balogun, on loan from Arsenal, confirmed his good start to the season: hanging in the area, the striker caused a first penalty, transformed without trembling by Kamory Doumbia (23rd). Then, after a handball from Yohann Magnin, he took the second penalty and scored his second goal in two matches (29th).

Everything changed in the second half. The red card of Emmanuel Agbadou (47th) was a first clue. Komnen Andric offered himself a double with a penalty and an uncrossed header (52nd, 62nd), the young Muhammed-Cham Saracevic adjusted Patrick Pentz at the entrance to the surface (72nd) and Jérémie Bela completed the Auvergne success ( 78th). Saîf-Eddine Khaoui was close to increasing the score (87th), but his goal was disallowed for an offside position. Oscar Garcia will have to look into his defense which has already conceded eight goals in two games.

Troyes - Toulouse : 0-3

Toulouse confirms its good start to the season by winning at Troyes, after a controlled encounter (3-0). Troyes experienced a new defeat, the second this year, after that conceded to Montpellier at the start of the championship. Technically superior, dominating in all sectors, the Toulouse opened the scoring with one against his camp Yasser Larouci (36th). The defender came under pressure from Brecht Dejaegere, announced as a starter and absent last Sunday against Nice.

Not safe for long minutes against the counterattacks of Aubois, the TFC finally made the break following good pressing from Thijs Dallinga and a finish from Rafael Ratao (54th). Rhys Healey, top scorer in Ligue 2, achieved a small personal feat to give even more relief to the victory of his team (85th). With four points gleaned in two games, the French Ligue 2 champion is having a successful start to the season in the top flight.
