Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed will be released on October 18 for Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S. The game, which is based on the well-known movies of the same name, will feature an asymmetric multiplayer mode
The game will come exclusively to the Epic Games Store on Windows, developer Illfonic reports. The gameplay varies greatly between ghosts and humans due to that asymmetrical mode. Players can join the human team, which consists of four characters, or they can play the ghost, which acts on its own. In that sense, the gameplay setup is very reminiscent of Evolve. The people have gadgets like the PKE Meter, Particle Thrower and Ghost Trap. The ghost can immobilize people with slime, teleport and take over certain objects.
Some of the original actors also make appearances, at least in the announcement trailer. Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, who are Dr. Raymond Stantz and Winston Zeddemore play, pass in review, both in the form of digitized resemblance and with their voices.
The multiplayer mode takes place in typical ghost scenario locations such as a museum, a mansion and a prison. Earlier it was also revealed that the game will support crossplay on all platforms, which means that playing with friends and matchmaking with strangers should be smoother and faster.
