Last weekend, the regional Trofeo Castelfidardo race was held in central Italy. Unfortunately, the competition had a tragic end. Stefano Martolini, 41, died at the end of about 400 meters at the finish line.

Vigevano Virus team sports director watched the finish from the side of the road. At one point, one of the cyclists, Nicola Venchiarutti, lost control of the steering wheel and ran over Martolini. He fell and hit his head on the pavement. Unfortunately, as a result of his injuries, he died, despite prompt medical attention.

Nicola Venchiarutti mentioned above was also seriously affected. The 23-year-old cyclist from Vitalcare Vega’s Work Service team hit his head against the walls surrounding the road. He was transported by helicopter to the hospital.
“Martolini hit the ground as a result of the impact and according to the doctors who arrived at the scene, death occurred almost immediately. Venchiarutti was seriously injured and was transported by ambulance when the hospital in Ancona with two spinal fractures” – informed . the road portal cc.
