Abu Dhabi – Chandrika Daily with free driverless taxi

Driverless taxis will soon be launched in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The project was unveiled at the Smart City Summit in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. This is the first driverless Tiksi venture in the Gulf region. Bayanat Group, part of the G42 Group, said it would launch the project on a trial basis this month with full facilities.

Driverless taxi is based on the latest technology. The Dubai Metro is the only driverless public in the UAE. The Abu Dhabi Department of Transportation has signed an agreement with Bayonet for the use of autonomous vehicles. Bayanat CEO Hassan Al Husseini said the new taxi service will be launched at nine locations with five cars on Yas Island, the most popular tourist destination in the UAE’s capital Abu Dhabi. The first phase of this high-tech project will have three electric cars and two hybrid self-driving vehicles. Free service from hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and offices at Yas Mall.

Comprehensive safety inspections will be carried out to ensure that vehicles comply with traffic rules. Traffic safety arrangements will be evaluated before deploying vehicles on all roads.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Transportation has developed a network of infrastructure for the use of self-driving vehicles.
