Australia and the United States oppose the military rule in Myanmar – NEWS 360 – WORLD

Washington: The United States and Australia have spoken out against the military coup in Myanmar. In a joint statement, the United States and Australia called for the immediate release of political leaders detained by the military. During the trilateral meeting, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin discussed foreign policy with Australia’s Maurice Payne and Peter Dutton. The military, which overthrew the country’s democratic government on February 1, has detained former rulers, including Aung San Suu Kyi. Following this, sanctions have been imposed on Myanmar, including by European countries.

The issue of Myanmar was also discussed during the discussion on the political situation in Central and Pacific countries.
