After several weeks of waiting, this Sunday night doses of the American pharmaceutical arrived in the country.
After several weeks of waiting, yesterday the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz, announced a piece of news that the country was waiting for: new doses of Modera’s vaccine arrived in the country. (Lean Report fall in deaths and new cases of coronavirus in Colombia)
In total, 689,220 doses arrived at El Dorado airport from Atlanta, United States. The idea is that this batch allows to reactivate vaccination in the country that, due to delays by pharmaceutical companies, had slowed down. While in the middle of this year more than 300,000 or 400,000 daily doses were being administered in the country, in recent weeks that number had fallen. Yesterday, for example, the report from the Ministry of Health showed that only 159,910 per day had been applied.
That vaccine shortage was one of the reasons why the country had to extend the time between doses of Moderna’s vaccine: the interval went from 4 weeks to 12 weeks.
So far it is not known precisely how the new doses will be distributed, but it is expected that this Monday the Ministry of Health will publish the resolution so that each territory receives a part of the batch.
