Co.South African scientists have discovered a new variant of the new variant Covid 19. Reuters reports that they are examining the effects and potential of the new variant, which was found in a few samples.

This variant, called B.1.1.529, has acquired a very unusual form through mutations. It is estimated that they can evade the body’s immune response and cause further infections. The scientists told reporters at a news conference.

According to reports from diagnostic laboratories, the virus is thought to have spread rapidly in the most populous province of Gauteng. She said eight other provinces in the country may already have the virus.

South Africa has confirmed the presence of B.1.1.529 variants in about 100 samples. However, similar variants have been found in Botswana and Hong Kong. The case reported in Hong Kong is that of a traveler from South Africa. But scientists believe that 90 percent of new cases in Gauteng may be B.1.1.529.

Although the information is limited, our scientists are working day and night to understand the new variant and its possible consequences, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases in South Africa said in a statement. South Africa has also requested an emergency sitting of WHO staff on Friday to discuss the new variant.

South Africa was the first country to detect beta variants last year. Beta is a variant of the concern of the World Health Organization. This is because the transmission rate is high and many vaccines do not work well against it.
