Divinity OS 2 is more like Jagged Alliance than Xcom. Levels in Xcom are minuscule compared to JA2.
And it makes sense that the interface needs a fresh coat of paint. But there is a difference between ‘How’ it looks and ‘What’ it shows.
This UI of JA2 is the basic and is quite empty. You use this when you move a lot or when you know all the Keybindings by heart.
But if it gets busy and you really start playing ‘tactical’ then you switch to the inventory here you change weapons, ammunition, put a scope or silencer on your weapon. But also certain movements Climbing, Crouch, Prone etc.
The example with the grenades I was talking about is the fact that you don’t see which grenades it is that he throws. Was it a Frag? Mini? stunt? Gas? tear gas? Mustard gas? And those are all options that were in the Vanilla JA2. Is there a “Queue” in inventory for the grenades he throws or are they generic “Hand Grenades”.
XCOM plays faster than Jagged Alliance and is much less complex. And that complexity is (for me anyway) the nice thing about JA.
The XCOM games are good games but it is like comparing Checkers and Chess, they both play on a checkered board but they are completely different in the rules.
So just wait and see. THQ is going for a good game, which is really a sequel. If you didn’t realize that after watching the trailer, you didn’t look closely.
Sorry but this is the biggest fallacy there is. For the same money, THQ thinks, “hey, our very own Xcom clone!” And a Trailer is pure Marketing.
