A several-hour action of border guards, fire brigades, the army and the police in the swamps in the Supraśl river basin at the Polish-Belarusian border. Eight immigrants got stuck there. Seven people were hospitalized.

According to the information provided by Sec. Anna Michalska, the incident took place at about 10 o’clock in the town Pieńki near Michałów (Podlasie). Eight illegal immigrants, five men and three women, got stuck in the swamps of the Supraśl river. a spokeswoman for the Border Guard.

In total, 7 people were admitted to hospitals – five men and two women. As she informed earlier in an interview with PAP, Sec. Anna Michalska, on Saturday “Border Guard recorded a record number of attempts to illegally cross the border on the Polish-Belarusian border.” There were as many as 324 of them. Border guards prevented all the trials – she emphasized.

In addition, a spokeswoman for the Border Guard said that in the last 24 hours “border guards detained two people for helping to organize the illegal crossing of the Polish-Belarusian border”. It was citizen of Uzbekistan and citizen of Georgia – she said.

Since the beginning of September, the Border Guard has recorded over 3.8 thousand attempts to illegally cross the Polish border with Belarus.

From September 2, a state of emergency has been in force in the border zone with Belarus, i.e. in part of the Podlaskie and Lubelskie provinces. It covers 183 towns. It was introduced for 30 days under the ordinance of President Andrzej Duda, issued at the request of the Council of Ministers.
