Influenza occurs mainly in the winter months. The symptoms: chills, headache, severe muscle pain and fatigue, sore throat and dry cough and (high) fever. In the Netherlands, there is officially a flu wave when 58 people per 100,000 have the flu.
“The flu wave has not officially started yet, but it could happen in the short term. Those are also the predictions: sooner and longer.”
Would you like to prevent the flu yourself? Then the medical microbiologist has a few more tips. “Staying fit and living a healthy life is a good protection against getting sick. It is not clear what additional vitamins can be. Studies on the role of vitamins are ongoing. I haven’t seen any convincing evidence yet. In any case, it is certainly not wrong to eat healthy. And don’t forget the flu shot, of course. People can protect themselves by taking the flu shot.”
If you wonder whether you have corona or the flu, view the infographic below from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and get tested.
