Haibike is one of the three German brands controlled by Accell Group, one of the two Dutch multinationals in the cycle. Anyone who has always gone to Eurobike knows that they were the first to fill their mega stands with electric bicycles, when the e-bike phenomenon had not yet exploded.
Now they find themselves elbowing with fierce competition and are famous for having the “monstre” engine, the Flyon with 120 Nm of torque but in their extensive catalog they have e-mtb models equipped with both the new Bosch Smart System and the new engine. by Yamaha e-Bike Systems, the PW-X3.
WHAT KIND OF BIKE IS
One of the novelties of Haibike’s 2022 catalog is the new Nduro 7 which is an Enduro e-mountain bike with an aluminum alloy frame, 180 mm front and rear suspension, 29-inch front wheel equipped with a Schwalbe Magic Mary tire. 2.4 ” while on the rear we find a 27.5 ” wheel and a 2.6 ” tire.
Reading the geometry sheet we discover that the Nduro 7 has a 460 mm long rear stay (chainstays), 63.5 ° head angle, 77 ° inclined seat tube and 455 mm reach (size M). we saw it in Rimini at the Italian Bike Festival.
NEW YAMAHA PW-X3 ENGINE
This new Nduro 7 chassis was designed around Yamaha’s new engine, the PW-X3. Compared to the previous model (PW-X2) it is 20% more compact, lighter (2.75 versus 3.1 kg) and is a bit more powerful as it reaches a peak of 85 Nm versus 80 Nm.
In practice it reaches the same maximum torque as the rivals Shimano EP8 and Bosch Performance Line CX but the Japanese evidently focused more on fluidity in delivery than on power. They added an automatic pedal assist mode which they called Automatic Support. Sensing the cyclist’s thrust on the pedal and evaluating the variation of the terrain, the control unit automatically chooses between Eco, Standard and High-Performance modes, those which at that juncture are the ideal to deliver.
The Yamaha PW-X3 on the Haibike Nduro 7 is powered by a 750 Wh Intube battery, has the new led display Interface X that we find in the center of the handlebar while the remote control on the left is minimal, it allows you to go back and forth (up and down) in the functions and also to activate the Walk mode, when you have to push our e- bike.
Haibike sells this new Nduro 7 for 5,499 euros equipped with the Shimano SLX M7100 transmission, with their The Crank +++ crankset which we believe is aesthetically beautiful, the chainring has 36 teeth. The suspension department is entrusted to the Performance series by Fox, 38 fork and Float X2 shock absorber, French rims (Mavic E-Deemax) with 30 mm internal channel while the brakes are Magura M7 with 203 mm discs.
