Jack Ma and Cai Chongxin spend 1.4 billion to buy a mansion in New York – Hong Kong Economic Journal website hkej.com

Blue Pool Capital, jointly held by Alibaba (09988) founder Jack Ma and Executive Vice Chairman Cai Chongxin, purchased a duplex mansion in New York, USA.

Blue Pool paid $188 million (HK$1.466 billion) for a duplex unit on the 73rd floor of the 220 Central Park South luxury building, as well as a workers’ room on the lower level, according to New York government registration documents. At the same time, the company received a $71.5 million 30-year mortgage from JPMorgan Chase.

Blue Pool did not respond to media inquiries.

Cai Chongxin purchased two full-floor units in the same building last year, involving a total amount of US$157.5 million.

The unit that changed hands this time was originally held by hedge fund legend Dan Och. Orchi bought the unit for $95 million in 2019. Auqi did not respond to media inquiries.
