King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, accompanied by three of their four children, cycled through the streets of Ghent on Sunday on the occasion of the car-free day.
The royal couple and their children thus took the Korenlei (wheat quay, ed.) Towards the Saint-Michel bridge where they received some explanations from a guide on the history of the Castle of the Counts in particular. The royal family then continued on to the Boekentoren, which was recently fully restored.
The crowd was present to greet the King and his family, both on the bridge where they posed for the photo and at the Boekentoren. The sovereign seemed moreover delighted at the end of his cycling trip through the streets of Ghent. “Fantastic, fantastic! Gorgeous! A little sport feels good! It’s so beautiful! ”He declared.
