Our first stop was Santa Fe, the capital of New Mexico. We walked around the historic district and were mesmerized by the adobe architecture and beautiful art galleries. Our favorite spot was the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, a beautiful church with stunning stained-glass windows that were simply remarkable. We also visited the Loretto Chapel and were awed by the mysterious staircase that many believe was built by a miracle worker.

In the evening, we went to the Santa Fe Opera, which is known for its unique repertory and beautiful performances. We enjoyed a beautiful rendition of Mozart’s Don Giovanni under the stars, which was just magical.

Day 2: Albuquerque and Taos

We woke up early and drove to Albuquerque, the largest city in New Mexico. We visited the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center where we learned about the Native American tribes that inhabited the land for thousands of years. We also visited the famous Albuquerque Balloon Museum and learned about the history of hot air ballooning and marvelled at the beautiful balloons on display.

After lunch, we headed to Taos, a small town in northern New Mexico known for its quaint adobe houses and art galleries. We visited the Taos Pueblo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has been inhabited for a thousand years. We were fascinated by the rich history and culture of the Native American tribes that call this place home. We also visited the Taos Art Museum and were impressed by the remarkable art that was on display.
