Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
General Manager of Nahadlatul Ulama (PBNU), H Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul stated that Rais Aam PBNU, KH Miftachul Akhyar, has issued a warrant to schedule muktamar NU 34th to be held December 17, 2021.
“Rais Aam PBNU, KH Miftachul Akhyar, has issued a warrant. It orders the committee to immediately take measurable steps to hold a congress on December 17, 2021,” said Gus Ipul in his written statement, Friday (11/26).
Gus Ipul stated that the order became the basis and footing for PBNU through the steering committee and the executive committee to speed up the implementation of the congress from a previously determined date.
As is known, the Kombes and the National Conference a few months ago in Jakarta agreed that the 34th NU congress would be held on December 23-25, 2021 in Lampung.
Gus Ipul said the warrant was issued after a tough debate. He said the NU Mutamar would soon be held in a matter of weeks considering the current conditions at PBNU were not good.
“This warrant has a background. It’s not conclusive,” said Gus Ipul. “That’s why I said that PBNU was not doing well,” he continued.
He said that before the order was made, there had been a meeting schedule to address the status of PPKM level 3 for the period from December 24, 2021 to January 2, 2022, nationally.
The meeting participants, said Gus Ipul, were Rais Aam, Katib Aam, the General Chairperson and the Secretary General. The meeting was agreed to be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.
Because on that day no decision or deadlock could be taken, said Gus Ipul, the Secretary General asked that the meeting be postponed and could be resumed on Thursday, November 25, 2021.
“So, Wednesday was the meeting. Apparently no agreement was found to advance the congress. The reason was about the readiness of the committee. To get a report on readiness, then the meeting tried to contact the committee. It turned out that Mr. Noah as Chairman of the Steering Committee was in the field, in Lampung. The executor, Pak Imam Aziz, could not be contacted on Wednesday,” explained Gus Ipul.
“Then the secretary general asked for the meeting to be postponed. The four agreed to meet again last Thursday and invite the congress committee,” he continued.
Gus Ipul stated, Rais Aam and Katib Aam, then came back to continue the pending meeting. However, the chairman of the committee, general chairman and secretary general until the afternoon did not come.
Because there was no clarity regarding their presence, continued Gus Ipul, Rais Aam decided to issue a warrant.
“Thursday’s meeting should have started at noon. But, let alone the chairman of the committee, even the general chairman and secretary general did not appear. This is what I say that PBNU is not doing well,” explained Gus Ipul.
“The absence of the Chairman of the Committee, the General Chair and the Secretary General on the second day of the meeting, is an indication that there is no commitment here to carry out the results of the meeting,” he added.
So, said Gus Ipul, with the issuance of the Order, the confusion about when the congress will be answered has been answered.
“All parties must comply with Rais Aam’s decision, as the highest command holder of PBNU,” he concluded.
