“In Liège and Namur, we have been seeing an increase of 20% and more in the confirmed infections for several weeks. At the start of the school year, the number of tests performed increased by 14%. The positivity ratio drops to 4.9%.

The number of hospital admissions has continued to fall, according to Mesuere. An average of 59.9 new covid patients are admitted to hospital every day, which is 11% less than last week. A total of 713 (+1%) patients are hospitalized, of which 213 (-6%) are in intensive care. An average of 7 people die from Covid-19 every day.

Last week, Mesuere said on Twitter, a third shot was administered to more than 300,000 people with a weakened immune system.

The fully vaccinated part of the population increases from 71.5% to 72%.
