Open beta test of Age of Empires IV has started

Starting today, Age of Empires IV is undergoing an open beta test, which you can join through Steam and the Xbox Insider Hub in the Microsoft Store. According to a post on the Age of Empires IV website, testing will take place from September 17 to 20. Players can now join this exciting adventure.

There are four civilizations available in beta: England, China, Holy Roman Empire, and Abbasid dynasty. Five different maps will be available and, as the developers emphasize, this test is “multiplayer oriented.” The single-player adventure options available in the beta include playing against bots and completing the Mission Zero tutorial.

Age of Empires IV received a closed beta earlier this year. Since then, the developers have made some changes, including the ability to increase the distance between the camera, “balancing work” with the English and Chinese civilizations, as well as various bug fixes.

Age of Empires IV is due out on October 28th. It will be available on PC via Steam and Windows Store. Xbox Game Pass for PC members will be able to access the game on launch day.
