JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini said that she would optimize the Ministry of Social’s (Kemensos) budget to help vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities and people living in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas in Indonesia.
He also said that the Ministry of Social Affairs had restructured the organization by eliminating several echelon I and II positions.
From this policy, the original budget for official allowances and facilities can be optimized for people who need assistance.
“There are millions of elderly people and people with disabilities who live with and or without their families. They experience various problems and for that they need more intensive treatment,” said Risma as quoted from a written statement, Wednesday (19/1/2022).

To help beneficiaries (PM) who are facing problems, the Minister of Social Affairs stated, the Ministry of Social Affairs will be more involved in the field, including social assistants.
With the demands of increasingly complex tasks, the Minister of Social Affairs ensures that he will optimize the role of facilitators, especially to overcome accessibility problems such as problems faced by vulnerable groups.
Throughout 2021, the Ministry of Social Affairs has distributed social assistance for both the elderly and people with disabilities through the Family Hope Program (PKH), Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT)/Sembako Cards, and BPNT PPKM.
Data from the Ministry of Social Affairs shows that for the elderly and people with disabilities who live without families receiving PKH and BPNT/Kartu/Sembako as many as 1,477,527. There are 6,250,462 elderly and people with disabilities who live without their families receiving the BPNT/PPKM Basic Food Cards.

Then for the elderly and people with disabilities who live with families receiving PKH and BPNT/Sembako Cards as many as 7,251,836. Elderly and people with disabilities who live with families receiving BPNT/PPKM Basic Food Cards are 4,636,670.
Adjusting the government’s 2022 policy, the Ministry of Social Affairs will enter the elderly/disabled recipients of PPKM BPNT recipients into the regular BPNT recipient data. Then for social assistance recipients under the age of 40, the Ministry of Social Affairs will increase their economic independence by providing entrepreneurship training.
“Later it will involve partnerships with the community. On that occasion the companions can also take part in training. Because many of them are also economically disadvantaged,” he said.
