Roddick thinks of the interest of Federer’s agency in buying the Cincinnati ATP

Former US Open champion Andy Roddick would love to see Roger Federer’s sports agency TEAM8 buy the rights to the Cincinnati Masters. In recent times there has been speculation about the interest of Team 8 in buying the rights to the Cincinnati ATP.

Federer, one of the most successful players in tennis history, is a fan favorite wherever he goes and is a seven-time champion in Cincinnati. Roddick believes Federer would do a great job in Cincinnati and hopes this tournament “falls into the hands” of someone connected to the game.

“In the world of tennis, where conflict of interest knows no bounds at all, Roger can do it,” Roddick said, according to Tennishead. “Obviously he’s been a great steward of the game, he’s created an incredible relationship with the fans in the city of Cincinnati.

“You would like it to stay in the tennis family, with someone who really knows and loves our sport. So we’ll see, from what I’ve heard, there are a number of takers, but it’s nice to see responsible names in the mix.”

Federer will return this year

Federer has had three knee surgeries since 2020 and hasn’t played much in recent years. Federer, who underwent a third knee operation last August, recently confirmed that he plans to return to action later this year.

So far, Federer has entered two events. At the end of September, Federer will represent Team Europe at the Laver Cup. Also, Federer signed up to play in Basel at the end of October.

Basel is Federer’s first confirmed ATP event, but there is a chance the Swiss may decide to return even sooner. How long Federer will play remains to be seen, but tennis fans expect the Swiss to play the entire 2023 season. Federer wants his return to take place on a tennis court and not in a press conference.
