- Sarpsborg – Rosenborg 1-3 (0-2)
The good form continues for Rosenborg. Trøndelag had full control from start to finish when Sarpsborg was beaten away.
At the same time as Rosenborg took a strong victory, Molde gave points against weak form Vålerenga in the gold match. Bodø / Glimt also had trouble for a long time against Viking, but turned to victory at the end of the match.
The victory means that Rosenborg has won six of its last seven matches. This means that Trøndelag is now in fourth place in the Eliteserien, four points behind Glimt, which tops the table.
Per Ciljan Skjelbred (34) has struggled after the “comeback” to Rosenborg. Injuries and varying performances have meant that the return for the 34-year-old has not been as many had imagined.
But against Sarpsborg, Skjelbred and Rosenborg impressed a lot.
Skjelbred kept up a pearl scoring when he doubled the lead for Trøndelag midway through the first half.
– The critic man scores, exclaimed Joacim Jonsson in Eurosport studio.
– For a ball from Per Ciljan, Bernt Hulsker continued.
The goal was also Skjelbred’s first after returning to Rosenborg last summer, and came in the 34-year-old’s first match from the start since he suffered an injury in the match against Lillestrøm on 25 June.
It was still a Swede who was to be the big player of the match.
Stefano Vecchia was the two-goal scorer against Sarpsborg. The first goal was a real gem, while the second was frozen in goal after a beautiful counterattack.
– I am very happy with the score, but the most important thing is that we win the match and get three points, Vecchia told Discovery after the match.
Ole Jørgen Halvorsen reduced for the hosts midway through the second half, but it did not help much. Rosenborg eventually won the match 3-1.
