Riyadh: Saudi women lag behind men in terms of average monthly salary. In the second half of 2020, women in the country were paid more than men. Local newspapers reported that this was the first time in Saudi Arabia. During this period, the average monthly salary for women was 4105 riyals and for men it was 3944 riyals, Al Watan reported.

According to the report, the annual salary of women increased by 16.59 per cent and that of men by 15.32 per cent during the period.

The number of public and private sector companies in the country increased by 10 per cent in the first quarter of 2021 over the first quarter of 2020.
