US: Michigan consumer confidence falls on inflation and Omicron fears

In the preliminary reading in January, the index that measures consumer confidence, drawn up by the University of Michigan, fell to 68.8 compared to the previous survey of 70.6. The market had expected a read of 70. US consumer sentiment declined more than expected in early January due to growing concerns about rising inflation and the rapidly spreading Omicron variant.
