US scientists named the cause of pancreatic cancer

Scientists at the University of Texas have found that inflammatory processes affect the occurrence of this dangerous disease. Research results published in Science magazine.

The researchers found that the cells of this organ of the digestive system respond to repeated inflammation with an adaptive effect.

The protective mechanism provokes the development of a tumor, while saving the organ from pancreatitis. However, the downside of this can be the formation of a malignant tumor. The study found that 95% of pancreatic cancers carry a protooncogene called KRAS. It is found in a healthy body, but after regular inflammation mutates and limits tissue damage during an exacerbation.

The protective behavior of genes after inflammation persists long after an exacerbation. Scientists have called this “epithelial memory.” It activates cell development pathways similar to cancer.
