Previously, on the evening of December 8, 2023, Mr. Vo Van V. (54 years old, living in Ea Pok town, Cu M’gar district) went to the police to report being robbed. broke into the jewelry store of the family who stole dozens of gold bars.
Immediately afterwards, the Criminal Police Department, Criminal Engineering Department – Dak Lak Provincial Police coordinated with Cu M’gar District Police to examine the scene and investigate the case.
After a period of establishing a case, the police identified the suspect as Nguyen Ngoc Diem. However, during the arrest process, the police force encountered many difficulties because the subject continuously changed residence, going to many provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc, Dong Nai.
Following the trail, late on January 12, a working group of the Criminal Police Department – Dak Lak Provincial Police raided a motel room in Bien Hoa City (Dong Nai Province) and successfully arrested Diem and seized many people. exhibit.
At the police station, Diem admitted that he had previously gone to Mr. V’s gold shop to buy a silver wire. While the store owner was not paying attention, Diem immediately took the key chain and brought it to the store to have another key cut.
Afterwards, Diem returned to the store and said he would exchange it for another silver chain to return the keys to their original position to avoid detection. A few days later, Diem went to the gold shop. When he saw the shop owner was away, he opened the lock and stole the gold.
After the theft, Diem took a bus to the northern provinces. After that, Diem went to Thai Binh province to sell part of the gold and spent more than 150 million VND. Part of Diem’s ​​gold and silver was buried behind his mother’s garden in Dong Hung district (Thai Binh province). The rest Diem brought to Dong Nai province to wait for consumption.
From the testimony, the police force went to Thai Binh province to dig up the land behind Diem’s ​​house, confiscating about 10 silver bars and about 6 gold bars.
According to the police, Diem is a professional gold shop thief with the method of stealing the key first, then cutting the key and returning it to its original place, waiting for the opportunity to steal.
With that trick, Diem committed 3 gold shop robberies in Hanoi City and was sentenced to 14 years in prison, only to be released from prison in March 2023.
