In his will, he wrote that he would donate the entire amount of 3.8 million USD to the town with the purpose of improving the quality of education, healthcare, entertainment and culture. In fact, he set up a trust fund for this money in 2001 to prevent death from happening at any time. After receiving the money, a charitable foundation will be responsible for distributing it according to Mr. Holt’s wishes.
A local official said that residents of the town as well as local organizations and schools can apply for grants from the money Mr. Holt left behind. The town government pledged to use the money economically.
Mr. Geoffrey Holt was born in Massachusetts and served in the US Navy and has a master’s degree. He once held the position of director at a grain factory.
In the 1980s, due to the company’s bankruptcy, Geoffrey Holt received a severance pay. He used money to invest in the media field and received many profits from this investment.
