Last week, a neighbor came to my house to talk about the maid Ngan. He told her to work hard, work for my family and then work for 2 other families. I was very surprised to hear this, Ms. Ngan worked outside without asking my husband and I for permission. She eats, sleeps, and receives a salary from my family, yet she serves someone else’s family.
Immediately after that, I called Ms. Ngan to sit down to ask everything clearly. She did not deny it, but accepted it and affirmed that she was not wrong. She said that every day after doing all my housework and sending the children to school, she felt like she was wasting time at home, so she took on a part-time job.
She said that she currently has to raise two children to go to college, so she needs a lot of money. She hopes I can understand her family’s difficulties. People working as maids earn about 8 million a month, while Ms. Ngan’s total income combined is 14 million.
Yesterday, I told my husband about Ms. Ngan working outside. The money she earns every month is almost equal to my salary working full-time at the company. I calculate that each month I have to reduce Ms. Ngan’s salary by 2 million.
My husband frowned and blamed his wife for being petty. If she got angry and quit her job, where would she find such a hard-working and trustworthy person? He also said that the house is clean, work is always completed on time, she can do whatever she wants, and I shouldn’t make things difficult for the maid.
I noticed that every day my husband is ready to scold his wife, but every time he talks to Ms. Ngan, he is gentle and always defends her. Does he have any feelings for his employee? Now I have two options, which is to deduct my salary or let Ms. Ngan quit, but I don’t know which option to choose?
