I wonder why my parents let the newlywed couple lie in the bed of the deceased.
When Duy and I were still students, he sometimes took me home to visit his disabled sister. She was paralyzed since childhood and couldn’t do anything except lie in bed and rely on her parents’ help. One year after we graduated, she passed away, and I also came home to mourn her.
Two years later, both of their jobs were okay, so the two families agreed to hold the wedding. Before the wedding, Duy took me back to his hometown to take photos, then ordered everything necessary for the wedding.

Thinking for a moment, I was startled by the memory of Duy’s sister’s bed. Suddenly I shivered and shouted loudly, blaming him for being careless. I wonder why my parents let the newlywed couple lie in the bed of the deceased. Duy frowned and said: “It’s my sister’s bed, not anyone else’s. You act like the house is on fire. Just say it quietly so your parents will hear and get angry.” My bed is broken so I can’t use it anymore. As for my sister’s bed, it’s so good that dad just repainted it a little. Besides, after getting married, my husband and I only slept in the countryside for 3 days, so there’s no need to waste buying a new bed.”
Disagreeing with Duy’s opinion, I met my parents privately and gave them some money to buy it Bed new for wedding room. But Duy’s mother told us we were only staying for a few days so we shouldn’t waste money on that. If we don’t want to lie down, after we get married we will move to our parents’ bed and we will sleep in our deceased sister’s bed.
Hearing this opinion was okay, I was about to ask for the money I gave back, but I didn’t expect my future mother-in-law to say that the money I gave was for renting canvas backdrops and musicians to make the wedding more festive.
At this point, I didn’t know what to say to my mother-in-law’s calculations but told myself that this was the first lesson in life, from now on I would never bring money to talk to my husband’s parents again.
