Police in the city of Monclova, Coahuila state (Mexico) arrested a man for using Chucky doll “haunted” to scare passersby and force them to give them money, RT reported on September 24.

Chucky doll is the main character of the famous horror film series Child’s Play, first released in 1988. In the film, Chucky – the haunted doll – always finds ways to harm innocent people. The series is so popular that Chucky dolls have become an obsession for many people.

Monclova police said that a man named “Carlos N” used the Chucky doll to disrupt public order and extort money from passersby. The police confiscated and handcuffed the doll.

“He put the doll in people’s faces and scared them. This is a criminal act and he must be arrested,” said Juan Raul Alcocer – former police director of Monclova city.

According to RT, there is some information that the man named “Carlos N” was drunk at the time he was arrested by the police.

Images posted by local media showed that, at the police station, both “Carlos N” and the doll were handcuffed. Police also confiscated a large knife from the doll’s clothes.

The police officer who handcuffed the Chucky doll (allegedly at the request of some reporters) was reprimanded by his superiors, according to RT.

“Some reporters joked that he should handcuff the doll. He did. But he must take the job seriously. This is not a joke,” Mr. Alcocer said.
