Regarding the fire case of An Phu karaoke business (Thuan An city, Binh Duong province) that occurred on the evening of September 6, 2022, the People’s Procuracy of Binh Duong province has just transferred the prosecution file for 4 defendants with two crime.
Of the four defendants prosecuted, three are former police officers who were in charge of fire prevention and rescue, the remaining one is the owner of An Phu karaoke facility.

Previously, the Police Investigation Department of Binh Duong Province prosecuted four former police officers. However, during the investigation, one defendant passed away due to illness, so the Investigation Police Agency suspended the investigation of the defendant.
Specifically, 4 former police officers are Vu Truong Son, Pham Quoc Hung, Nguyen Van Vo, Nguyen Duy Linh (passed away due to illness). The other person is Le Anh Xuan – owner of An Phu karaoke bar.
Among these, Le Anh Xuan, Vu Truong Son, and Pham Quoc Hung were prosecuted for “Violating regulations on fire prevention and fighting”; The defendant prosecuted for the crime of “Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences” is Nguyen Van Vo.
The An Phu karaoke bar fire that killed 32 people occurred on the evening of September 6, 2022. The cause was determined to be an electrical short circuit on the second floor of the karaoke bar.
The Police Department of Binh Duong Province then prosecuted the case, prosecuting the defendant against Mr. Le Anh Xuan. By October 2022, Binh Duong Provincial Police decided to strip the title of People’s Police from Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duy Linh and (former Captain of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Thuan An City Police) and Captain Nguyen Van Vo (former Captain of the Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Team of Thuan An City Police) former officer of this Team) on the crime of “Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences”.
After completing the investigation, the Police Department of Binh Duong Province transferred the file to request the prosecution of the 3 defendants mentioned above, but the file was returned by the People’s Procuracy of Binh Duong Province, requesting additional investigation.
On October 14, 2023, the Police Investigation Agency prosecuted Pham Quoc Hung and Vu Truong Son (former officers of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Binh Duong Provincial Police).
