A South African cheetah that was translocated to Kuno National Park in 2014 has died after an illness, the park said on Monday.

The cheetah, who had been living at the park for three years, was euthanized on Sunday, Park Warden Sibusiso Kabwe said.

The cheetah translocation project was launched in 2014 to move a number of rare South African animals to creation Custodian, Kuno National Park in tears due to the threats posed by poaching and cigarete smoking in the area.

The animals were initially to be housed at the Park’s Maseru Game Reserve before being moved to Kuno in September of that year.

The cheetah had been performing well at the park, but succumbed to an illness there on Sunday.
