IS admitted to causing the bombing in the Philippines

On Telegram channel, IS declared: “The warriors of the caliphate (Khalifah – an institution Islamic state) detonated a device at a large gathering of Catholics in Marawi City.”

The bombing occurred during the morning Catholic service at a sports university in Marawi City, Mindanao state, killing at least 4 people and injuring about 50 others. Marawi City was controlled by radical Islamic jihadists for about five months in 2017.
