Horrible murder
January 19, 1996, female student murder case shook the entire Nanjing University as well as China. After 9 days of missing female student Dieu Ai Thanh, her body was discovered to be intact, all parts were separated into many small pieces.
On the morning of January 19, after a heavy snowfall, in a small alley, a woman street sweeper picked up a black plastic bag full of minced meat in the trash. At first, I simply thought someone had forgotten the pork and wanted to take it home to wash it again. However, later, the female cleaner discovered there were 3 human fingers in her pocket and immediately reported it to the police.
Police quickly investigated and determined that the body was that of female student Diao Ai Thanh – a student at Nanjing University.

Dieu Ai Khanh is an ordinary female college student. In 1995, she was a student at Nanjing University majoring in information management. On January 10, 1996, she told her classmate that she was not feeling well and wanted to stay in the dormitory to rest and asked her friends to take a leave of absence from school. But after dinner, she went out alone again.
According to several witnesses, the last time they saw her was on Qingdao Road, south of the school. This was the last time they saw her and from then on Dieu Ai Khanh completely disappeared.
From January 19 to January 31, debris the victim’s body gradually found. Dieu Ai Khanh’s body was incomplete, her head and limbs were broken, and her fingers were boneless. There were signs that the body had been exposed to boiling water.
27 years still haven’t found the killer
After discovering the body, the police conducted a strict investigation around Nanjing in the hope of catching the culprit as quickly as possible. All human resources and state-of-the-art equipment are used trace the perpetrator. All suspects in Nanjing University were summoned for questioning.

The police also investigated Dieu Ai Khanh’s personal relationship, but no further clues were provided. The victim had no grudges or competition for love with others.
The case gradually came to a standstill without any new details. Many years have passed but the police continue to investigate. In recent years, technology has been applied including DNA retrieval. In 2008, Nanjing police looked for the victim’s father to take blood to increase hope for the case, but the perpetrator was still not found.
On January 19, 2016, 20 years after the case, suddenly appeared the article “Murder case in Nanjing has passed for 20 years, the perpetrator will not be punished”. However, on the official page of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Police, it affirmed that it will not give up the case or give up.
According to common sense, 20 years will expire for prosecution. But the police confirmed that they will file a case and this case will not be subject to the 20-year prosecution period.
Even Dieu Ai Khanh’s parents answered in an interview: “If the perpetrator sincerely repented, then come and tell us an apology, we will forgive. If he is truly sorry, we will definitely be lenient.”
Until now, this case is still a mystery to the police while the perpetrator is still at large.
