One man died in Austria and others are in intensive care after they attended a “Covid party” in an attempt to contract the disease and obtain the health pass required by the government to enter public places.
The party’s fatal victim is a 55-year-old man who died last week after becoming infected with the pandemic virus at an event held in the city of Bolzano, in South Tyrol, northern Italy.
According to local media reports, at least three other people, including a minor, were hospitalized in the Alpine region after contracting the virus in similar events.
For health officials, patients are anti-vaccines seeking deliberately become infected so that once the disease is over they can obtain the European Union covid-19 certificate, which is currently required for certain work and leisure activities in Italy, Austria and other European countries.
This certificate can only be obtained by applying one of the vaccines or demonstrating that the disease was contracted and recovered from it in the last six months.
“We have received more than one report from doctors whose patients admitted to being infected on purpose”said Patrick Franzoni, coordinator of the anti-covid-19 unit in Bolzano in statements to the Italian newspaper Il Dolomiti.
“They do this to develop antibodies and thus obtain the COVID-19 certificate without having to be vaccinated. There are long-term consequences, and even young people can end up in the hospital ”, added.
According to Franzoni, at least one infected person attends these parties and the rest, knowing this, deliberately get in close contact with the wearer, hugging him, kissing him or sharing drinks.
The parties are held in closed rooms where contagions can easily spread. “Between five and ten people a night” can become infectedsays the official.
These parties are being investigated by the Bolzonaro Prosecutor’s Office, which calls them “Party crown”.
Nevertheless, the authorities believe that the practice extends to countries such as Austria and Germany, who have recently tightened their measures against the coronavirus. Also, it is presumed that some anti-vaccine parents involve their children at these parties.
Bolzano is one of the areas most affected in Italy by the coronavirus, which saw its highest peak of infections in the last winter wave, which also significantly increased infections along the border area that it shares with Austria.
This last country, it became the first in Europe last week to re-impose a generalized lockdown since the world’s population is being vaccinated.
Netherlands It is another of the places where they are considering returning to the most severe restrictions due to the increase in infections and deaths. There, the anti-vaccine population has also devised unusual ways to deliberately catch the virus rather than receive an immunological one.
The sale of self-contagion kits equipped with ampoules and syringes for people to voluntarily inject themselves with the virus, and even add an antigen test to verify effective contagion.
