O Spotify showed interest in expanding its area of ​​expertise, beyond traditional streaming. This Thursday (25), the platform announced that it is testing a version of the application with a vertical video feed, similar to TikTok, which follows the music catalog in the app.

The new function, called “Discover” (“Discover”), will appear in the bottom bar of the screen. For now, it is only available in beta version, for tests. The videos will be excerpts from official music videos, as presented by product designer Chris Messina, responsible for the novelty, during the announcement.

The feature seems to work the same as the TikTok, allowing users to scroll the screen down or up and be taken directly to the next video. In the lower corner, there is the name of the song, the artist and the cover of the album. Users can leave a like.

The purpose is to make the process of discovering new music more engaging. The tool was built precisely to suggest songs when the listener wants to increase their playlist.

The platform has not announced when the feed will be available to users, nor if it will actually be implemented. “We routinely conduct a series of tests in an effort to improve our user experience,” a Spotify spokesperson told Mashable. “Some of these tests end up paving the way for our broader user experience and others just serve as an important learning curve. We have no more news to share at the moment.”
