The acceleration of the Bentley electric is supposed to be so brutal that it prefers to offer the driver two intensities.
Adrian Hallmark, CEO of Bentley, told Automotive News Europe that the brand’s first purely electric model (expected to arrive in 2025) could have a combined output of up to 1,400 horsepower. Its acceleration should be more than impressive.
„If we now have 650 horsepower in the GT Speed, we will double it in the electric battery model,“Hallmark told colleagues from Automotive News Europe. “But in terms of acceleration from 0 to 97 km / h, the return decreases. The problem is that it becomes annoying. And then it makes you sick.“
Chief Bentley therefore suggested that the new electric car could even have two levels of acceleration. “You can accelerate from 0 to 97 km / h in 2.7 seconds. Or it can be switched to 1.5 seconds, “said Hallmark. From today’s point of view, this is a really unbelievable value, when the difference between 97 km / h and 100 km / h will certainly not be so big.
The basis of the electric Bentley should be the premium group platform PPE, on which the electric cars Audi Q6 E-Tron and Porsche Macan EV should also grow in the future. It is therefore possible that these cars will also offer brutal acceleration. In terms of design, however, Bentley will go his own way and will not try to differentiate the car in terms of design. Respectively, it should not be an eye-catching electric model.
Hallmark has indicated in the past what the new model might look like:If you’re not in the SUV segment, you’re nowhere“He mentioned it in 2021. According to many expectations, the novelty could be a sedan mounted on a higher chassis.
The only example of an electric car that the brand has given us so far is the EXP 100 GT concept from 2020, which was to be an example of the brand’s future electrical production. After all, Bentley wants to produce only electric cars from 2030. However, the EXP concept showed a futuristic coupe with specific doors that we don’t even expect in production. However, the style of the new electric car could at least be in a similar spirit.
