The number of new COVID-19 cases drops to 742 in Quebec

The fourth wave of COVID-19 has declined slightly in Quebec.

According to data released Sunday by the Ministry of Health, 742 new cases have been identified since the previous report, compared to 821 the day before and 837 Friday. There have been 403,025 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Santé Québec indicates that 513 of these 742 new cases had not been vaccinated or had received a first dose less than 14 days ago. One hundred and ninety newly infected people, or 25.6% of new cases, had received two doses for at least seven days.

The situation worsened in hospitals where the number of patients rose from 264 to 277. However, 87 people are reported in intensive care, two fewer than the day before.

However, the number of active outbreaks increased from 508 to 509.

A total of 27,562 analyzes were performed on September 17. The positivity rate increased three tenths of a point to 2.7.

Authorities also said 17,365 doses of the vaccine, including 11,888 second doses, were administered over the past 24 hours, for a total of more than 12.8 million.

The percentage of people aged 12 and over who received a first dose is still around 88%. It is also reported that approximately 83% of the Quebec population received a second dose.
