Simple Web Analytics for Small Business

You want to know whether people find your website, how they get there, and which services they look at. You do not want to learn an analytics product to find out. BYOViral puts those answers on one screen and emails a summary every Monday.

Three things worth checking each week

Visitors compared with last week. A steady number is fine. A sudden drop can mean a broken page, a lost Google ranking, or a site that is down.

Where visitors came from. Google, your Google Business Profile, Facebook, a local directory, or people typing your address after seeing a flyer. The Referrers and Search Engines reports show which ones are working.

Which pages they read. If your pricing or contact page gets plenty of visits but the phone stays quiet, that page is the one to improve.

Getting set up

Most owners finish this in under ten minutes.

  1. Create an accountSign up with your email address. The free plan needs no card.
  2. Add your websiteType your domain name and choose whether the stats stay private.
  3. Paste one line of codeCopy the script into your site's header. WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and Webflow all have a field for this.
  4. Leave yourself outAdd your own IP address to the site's excluded list so your visits are not counted.

Tracking flyers, signs and local ads

Offline marketing is hard to measure. Two free tools help:

  • Build a tagged link with the UTM builder, for example with utm_campaign set to spring-flyer.
  • Turn that link into a code with the QR code generator and print it.
  • Visits from the code appear under Campaigns, separate from everything else.

Small business questions

Do I need a cookie banner for this?

BYOViral sets no cookies, so it does not add a cookie to your site. Whether you need a banner still depends on the other tools on your pages, such as chat widgets, ad pixels or embedded maps.

Is the free plan really free?

Yes. It has no time limit and no card is needed. It keeps daily totals for good and a detailed log of your last 500 visitors.

Can I see what city my visitors are in?

Yes, approximately. Countries and cities come from the visitor's IP address, so a phone on mobile data may show the carrier's nearby city instead of the exact town.

Will it slow down my website?

No. The script is about 650 bytes and loads without holding up the rest of the page.
